WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College junior Jeremiah Schaefer has been named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the Moundbuilders' 30-14 victory over Ottawa University.

Schaefer, an Augusta, Kansas, native and Augusta High School product, delivered a perfect kicking performance for the Builders. He went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts, connecting from 30, 41 and 42 yards.

He also converted all three of his extra-point attempts, accounting for 12 points in the Southwestern victory.

Schaefer made an impact in the punting game as well, placing two of his three punts inside the Ottawa 20-yard line.

Through the season, Schaefer has converted six of his seven field-goal attempts and is 13-for-15 on extra points.He has placed six punts inside the 20-yard line through four games this season. 

His longest punt of the season came against Evangel University, when he recorded a 73-yard punt.

Southwestern returns to the road for its next contest against Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
