YORK, Neb. - The Southwestern College competitive dance team trekked north to York, Neb. on Saturday morning to compete in the NAIA Southwest Regional Qualifier, hosted by York College. The squad finished in sixth place out of nine competitors, as they finished above three Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) rivals. Of the six KCAC squads to compete, SC was in the top half, less than a point below Kansas Wesleyan and a few points back of York College.
Southwestern put up a score of 47.93 in the competition, putting them more than a full point ahead of the tallies of Bethel College (46.48), University of Saint Mary (43.89), and Bethany College (42.50). Finishing sixth in the competition puts Southwestern at the mercies of the NAIA Competitive Dance selection committee, as they will soon announce the field of squads that will head to Ypsilanti, Mich. for the NAIA Competitive Dance Championships.
