WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College Dance Team continues its 2026 competition season Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Thresher Invitational, hosted by Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas.

Southwestern is scheduled to compete after St. Ambrose University and will also have an optional floor mark from 10:40–10:45 a.m. as part of the competition schedule.

The Moundbuilders will compete against a strong field that includes Bethel College, Friends University, Ottawa University, Columbia College, Oklahoma City University, St. Ambrose University, and the University of St. Francis.

Saturday's competition marks the second event of the season for Southwestern as the team looks to continue building on its performance at the season-opening Falcon Invitational. The dancers have spent recent weeks refining their routine, focusing on timing, technique, and overall execution.

The team is led by captain Sahrena Williams and supported by a prepared and committed group of dancers, including Keniya McConico, Jewell Moore, Alejandra Pippitt, Z'Nyya Pouncil, and Brooke Wilkinson. Each athlete has played a role in the team's preparation, contributing to practices and helping maintain focus as the season progresses.

Off the floor, the cheer and dance teams have remained active in supporting their competitive efforts by hosting bake sales at every Southwestern home basketball game. These fundraising efforts help support travel costs, competition expenses, and future opportunities for the program.

The coaching staff is excited to see how the team's preparation and readiness translate to the floor at the Thresher Invitational as the Moundbuilders continue their competitive schedule.
