NEWTON, Kan – October 24, 2023 The Moundbuilder women's golf team finished second overall and men's golf finished 10
th out of 14 teams at the Sandcreek Station Invitational.
Over two rounds, the women's team posted a 337 and a 345, culminating in a total score of 682, securing the second place team finish.
Leading the charge for Southwestern was
Ashlee Johnson, whose stellar performance earned her a tie for first place. Johnson carded a 77 in the first round and a 79 in the second, resulting in a total score of 156. She finished just 14 strokes over par.
A back-nine scorecard tiebreaker ultimately secured second place for Johnson individually.
The Moundbuilder men, posting scores of 313 in the first round and 323 in the second, for a total of 636, finished in 10
th place.
Leading the charge for the Moundbuilders was
Aaron Delgado, whose consistent performance earned him a total score of 154 across the two rounds.
Delgado's first-round score of 76 and second-round score of 78 placed him 23rd out of 76 golfers in the tournament, finishing just 12 strokes over par.
Not far behind,
Jackson Strohl showcased his skill on the greens, securing a 32nd-place finish with a total score of 156. Strohl carded a 77 in the first round and a 79 in the second, finishing just 14 strokes over par.
