WICHITA, Kan. — The Southwestern College men's golf team returns to a familiar course this week as it competes in the Crestview Spring Invitational, hosted by Friends University on Monday and Tuesday at Crestview Country Club.
The two-day tournament will feature 54 holes, with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and the final round played Tuesday. Southwestern is set to tee off at 8 a.m. Monday.
The event will be played on the South course at Crestview Country Club, a 6,671-yard layout that carries a course rating of 73.5 and a slope of 132.
The Moundbuilders are no strangers to the course. Southwestern competed at Crestview during the fall season, with experienced players having played the course in previous years. The familiar, yet difficult course will give the Moundbuilders a chance to compete with familiar KCAC foes. Southwestern captured the Southwestern Fall Invitational title at Quail Ridge Golf Course this past fall, and will look to build more momentum in the Spring season with a strong opening tournament.
Southwestern will bring a mix of experience and new faces to this week's tournament. Three players who competed during the fall season return to the lineup, joined by two additions making their spring debut.
The Moundbuilders' lineup will include freshman Jackson Payne, freshman Drew Graham, sophomore Cameron Surles, junior Jordan Clancy and senior Sebastian Read. Sophomore Nico Neuteboom will also compete as an individual for Southwestern.
With prior experience on the Crestview layout and momentum from their fall victory at the course, the Moundbuilders will look to build on that familiarity as they open the spring portion of their schedule.
