Siloam Springs, Ark. - On Friday, August 25, the Southwestern College men's soccer team made their way up to Siloam Springs in Arkansas to battle the Eagles of John Brown University. A game that seemed fairly even for the first half ended in a 4-0 loss for the Builders.
A game under the lights started with a chance for the Builders as Nalan Kentner took a chance on goal but just missed right. The Eagles, on the other side, did not seem bothered and started their attack with a header by Steven Cisneros that was saved by goalkeeper KJ Masso.
The first half ended with a total of three shots on Builders side, two of the by Mamadou Diarra, and five shots on the Eagles side.
Returning after halftime, the Eagles started showing their strengths early on. In the 46th minute, the Eagles scored the first goal to lead the game 1-0. Only one minute later, the Eagles used another chance as Alejandro Ramirez scored the second goal for John Brown to improve their lead to 2-0.
Being down by two goals, the Builders struggled to get back in the game. On the other side, the Eagles felt the momentum and added another goal to their score in the 54th minute. To finish things off, the Eagles added their final goal in the 59th minute to win the game 4-0.
A convincing 13 shots in the second half by John Brown was too much for the Builders, who couldn't get a single shot off.
The Builders will be back in action on Monday, August 28th at 7:30 p.m. when they battle Randall University at Richard L. Jantz Stadium in Winfield, Kan.
