WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern looks to build upon a quality performance at the NCCC Panther Invitational as the men's and women's cross country squads head to Lawrence to compete in the Billy Mills Classic, hosted by the Haskell Indian Nations University. The women's race is set to start at 6 p.m., with the men's race to follow at 6:30 p.m.
Senior Lauryn Peterson has been the standout performer for the Moundbuilders during the fall campaign. She aims to continue her gradual improvements at the 5,000-meter race distance and hopes to achieve her personal-best time of 25:42.1 before the KCAC Championships in November.
On the men's side, Derek Ponce-Gonzalez continues to lead the Builders towards success. He looks to build upon a 28th overall finish at the NCCC Panther Invitational and find another top finish this weekend.
