WACO, Texas — Southwestern put three names on the national stage Thursday as Joe Smyth, Matthew Holthusen, and Austin Tener were selected to the 2025 AFCA NAIA Coaches' All-America Teams, with Smyth earning First Team honors at all-purpose and Holthusen and Tener landing on the Third Team offense.
Smyth, a senior from Palmyra, New Jersey, was listed as the First Team all-purpose selection after piling up 1,544 all-purpose yards over 11 games. He totaled 507 rushing yards, 607 receiving yards, and 430 kick return yards, while scoring 110 points.
Holthusen, a senior wide receiver from Wichita, Kansas, was named to the Third Team after producing one of the most explosive seasons in the NAIA: 63 catches for 1,263 yards and 17 touchdowns. Holthusen also finished with 1,274 all-purpose yards.
Tener, a junior offensive lineman from Noble, Oklahoma, joined Holthusen on the Third Team as Southwestern's third All-America honoree.
