Box Score 2 HILLSBORO, Kan. — Tabor College delivered a dominant performance in a doubleheader sweep over Southwestern College on Saturday, securing victories of 9-1 and 9-0 at home.
In Game 1, the Bluejays (12-7) capitalized on a 15-hit effort to overpower the Moundbuilders (5-7). Shortstop D. Gillen led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and four RBIs. Tabor's offense exploded in the fourth inning, with Gillen's three-run homer fueling a four-run frame. Pitcher M. Carranza (W, 5.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K) kept Southwestern off balance, allowing just one unearned run.
Game 2 saw an even more dominant effort from Tabor, as they shut out Southwestern 9-0 in just five innings. The Bluejays jumped ahead early, plating three runs in the first, including a two-run homer from Gillen. Tabor tacked on two more in the second before sealing the win with a four-run third, highlighted by L. Roberts' three-run double. Pitcher M. Nelson (W, 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K) was nearly untouchable, facing just one batter over the minimum.
Southwestern struggled at the plate, managing only seven hits across both games. T. Henry and R. Wright were the lone bright spots in Game 1, each collecting two hits, while T. Mesna recorded the Moundbuilders' only hit in Game 2.
With the sweep, Tabor extends its record to 12-7, while Southwestern drops to 5-7. The Bluejays will look to build on their momentum in their next matchup, while Southwestern aims to bounce back from the tough road losses.
