Southwestern College Finishes Strong at Early Spring Classic, Takes Second Place
MANSFIELD, Texas— The Southwestern College women's golf team delivered a strong performance at the Early Spring Classic, finishing in second place behind Friends University after two days of competition at Walnut Creek Country Club.
The Lady Builders opened the tournament in a solid position, holding second place after the first day with a team score of +67 in the first round and +49 in the second.
Ashlee Johnson led the way, securing second place individually on Day 1 with scores of +11 in the first round and +4 in the second.
Lauren Kelly followed closely, contributing rounds of +14 and +9, while
Mollie Todd rounded out the top performers, sitting in 10th place with scores of +21 and +18.
On the final day, Southwestern maintained its position, shooting a third-round total of +87 to secure the runner-up finish. Johnson continued her strong play, placing third overall with a tournament total of +34 after carding a final-round +19. Kelly finished just behind her in fourth place, posting a total score of +36, including a final round of +13.
Todd contributed with a tournament total of +57, adding an +18 in the last round, while
Jodi Keener rounded out the Lady Builders' efforts with a third-round score of +37 and a total of +76 for the tournament.
