Strong Showing at Tiger Open: Team Earns Multiple Top Finishes in Arkansas City
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – The team delivered a strong performance at the Mark A. Phillips Tiger Open on Saturday, earning multiple top-three finishes and showcasing depth across various events.
In the men's sprints,
Marshal Self led the squad with a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters, clocking in at 10.70 seconds. Teammate
Kyle Richardson followed in 10th place at 10.89 seconds, while
Christopher Collier-Surly (14th, 10.98) and
Jack Titgemeyer (17th, 11.15) rounded out the team's efforts. Self also placed ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.91, while Richardson finished 13th in 22.27.
In middle-distance events, Ricky Young claimed third place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.05, while
Jamell Sanchez placed 13th in 2:24.54. Sanchez also competed in the 1500 meters, finishing 13th with a time of 4:58.15.
Distance runner
Derek Ponce-Gonzales delivered a strong showing in the 5000 meters, securing a third-place finish in 18:14.73.
In field events, Logan Churchill placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.87 meters. Dalton Morrison impressed in the javelin throw, earning a third-place finish with a mark of 52.20 meters. Morrison also competed in the discus throw, placing 19th with a throw of 35.63 meters. Teammates
Anthony Mendoza (23rd, 32.41m) and
Emerson Williams (27th, 30.25m) followed. Mendoza and Williams also competed in the hammer throw, finishing 20th (30.79m) and 21st (30.28m), respectively.
In the shot put, Williams secured 12th place with a throw of 11.87 meters, while Mendoza placed 13th with a mark of 11.77 meters.
