YORK, Neb. — Southwestern College resumes Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday with a road matchup against York University at the Freeman Center, marking the league's return from the Christmas break.
The Moundbuilders enter at 9-4 overall and 3-4 in KCAC action, tied for ninth place, after rolling to a 107-64 win over Spurgeon College in their most recent outing. York is 4-9 overall and 2-5 in conference play, tied for 11th, and is coming off a 105-58 loss to the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Southwestern has been one of the league's most efficient offensive teams, shooting 51 percent from the field, 37 percent from three-point range and 76 percent at the free-throw line. The Builders average 38.5 rebounds per game and own a plus 13.5 rebounding margin on the season.
Wyatt Bell leads Southwestern at 19.6 points per game, while Evan Barber averages 15.3 points and 3.7 assists. Nigel John (13.5 ppg), Austin Hilton (8.8 ppg) and Isaac Hoberecht (5.2 ppg) have also contributed consistently as the Builders look to build momentum in conference play.
York averages 70.8 points per game while shooting 40 percent from the field, 33 percent from beyond the arc and 73.1 percent at the free-throw line. The Panthers pull down 32 rebounds per contest and average 5.5 steals per game under first-year head coach Mitch McMullen.
Jadin Johnson leads York with 17.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Solomon King (10.4 ppg), Dave Dalge (7.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and Logan Beckstrom (7.7 ppg) are additional key contributors for the Panthers.
Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday.
