Southwestern College men's basketball has announced the addition of Ryan Rice to its coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 season.

A native of Normal, Illinois, Rice brings experience in player development, day-to-day program operations and game preparation to the Builders' staff. In his role, he will assist with the daily operations of the program while contributing to the development of Southwestern's student-athletes on and off the court.

Rice comes to Southwestern after attending Butler University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in sports media and strategic communications. During his time at Butler, Rice served as a student manager for the men's basketball program and was elevated to head manager during his senior year.

His experience with the Bulldogs allowed him to be involved in multiple aspects of a Division I basketball program, including practice preparation, player development and day-to-day team operations. Rice also gained valuable experience working with numerous NBA and WNBA players during his time at Butler.

Rice is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports management at Southwestern. As he continues his coaching career, he is committed to expanding his knowledge of the game and helping develop student-athletes both as basketball players and individuals.
