SALINA, Kan. — The Southwestern College men's golf team continued its fall season Monday and Tuesday at the Central Plains Invite, hosted at Salina Country Club in Salina, Kansas. The Moundbuilders competed in 54 holes over the two-day tournament, playing 36 holes on Monday before closing with 18 holes on Tuesday.

Southwestern finished second out of six teams, posting team scores of 309, 292 and 303 for a tournament total of 904. The Moundbuilders' second-round score of 292 marked the lowest team round in the last two years for Southwestern.

Senior Jordan Clancy once again led the Moundbuilders, finishing tied for third place after carding rounds of 78, 71 and 70. Clancy's 70 in the final round helped him secure his second consecutive top-three individual finish.

Junior Cameron Surles followed closely behind, finishing fifth after rounds of 73, 72 and 76. Junior Nico Neuteboom finished tied for 18th after recording rounds of 81, 72 and 81.

Junior Christian Campbell placed tied for 20th after shooting rounds of 82, 77 and 76, while junior Mitchell Lehman rounded out the Southwestern lineup in 28th place with rounds of 77, 83 and 87.

As a team, the Moundbuilders recorded 29 birdies, ranking third in the field, while their 144 pars ranked second among the six teams.

Clancy led Southwestern in par-3 scoring, playing the holes at +4 with a 3.27 average, which tied for fourth in the tournament field. Clancy and Surles both finished tied for sixth in the field on par-4 holes, each playing them at +5 with a 4.19 average.

Surles led the Moundbuilders on par-5 holes, playing them at -4 with a 4.67 average, which tied for second overall in the field.

Clancy and Surles each finished with eight birdies and 31 pars, leading the Moundbuilders in both categories. Clancy also added another eagle to his scorecard, continuing a streak of recording at least one eagle in every tournament this fall.

The runner-up finish gives Southwestern another strong team performance as the Moundbuilders continue to build momentum throughout the fall season.

The Moundbuilders will return to action October 12-13 when they travel to Springfield, Missouri, to compete in the Evangel Fall Invite.
