WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College junior Cameron Surles has been named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Surles, a native of Broken Arrow, Okla., earned the honor after finishing first at the Evangel Fall Invitational. He finished the tournament at 9-under-par (201), shooting rounds of 70, 67 and 64 to take first place among 57 golfers from 10 teams.
His final-round 64 was the lowest round of the tournament. Surles also led the field with 15 birdies, ranked first in par-5 scoring at 8-under-par and recorded Southwestern's only eagle of the tournament.
Surles helped the Moundbuilders finish seventh overall while recording season-low team scores in both the second and third rounds.
This marks the second time this season a Southwestern men's golfer has earned KCAC weekly honors, joining Jordan Clancy, who received the award on Oct. 6.
