SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Southwestern College women's golf team competed October 12-13 at the Evangel Fall Invite, hosted at Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course in Springfield, Missouri. Freshman Lilli Sympson delivered the best performance of her collegiate career, finishing third individually to earn her first career medalist honors.

Sympson put together an impressive two-round performance, carding rounds of 78 and 75 to finish with a tournament total of 153. Her consistent play throughout the event secured a solo third-place finish and marked a significant milestone in her first collegiate season.

Freshman Anna Kate Ownbey also turned in a strong performance, finishing sixth individually after posting rounds of 81 and 80 for a two-round total of 161.

The Moundbuilders showcased their scoring ability throughout the tournament, particularly on the par-3 holes. Sympson and Ownbey both finished tied for second in the field on par-3 scoring, playing the holes at +3 with a 3.30 scoring average.

Sympson continued to shine on the par-5 holes, finishing second in the field at -2 with a 4.75 scoring average. She also recorded one of the tournament's only two eagles and led the entire field with six birdies, highlighting her ability to make big shots throughout the competition.

Ownbey demonstrated consistency across the course, collecting 19 pars, which ranked second in the tournament field.

Sympson's first career medalist honors, combined with Ownbey's sixth-place finish, gave Southwestern another strong individual showing as the Moundbuilders continue to develop their young roster.

The Moundbuilders will conclude their fall season October 19-20 at the KCAC Match Play tournament in Dodge City, Kansas, joining the Southwestern men's team for the final event of the semester.
