WICHITA, Kan. — Southwestern College will look to strengthen its position in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference standings Wednesday night when the Moundbuilders travel to face No. 16 Friends University at the Garvey Center.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
The matchup carries significant postseason implications as both teams battle for KCAC playoff positioning. Friends, led by head coach Phil McClintock, enters the contest ranked No. 16 in the country with a 21-5 overall record and a 16-4 mark in KCAC play, good for second place in the conference. The Falcons are one of the most talented teams in the league and have been consistent throughout the season.
Southwestern is 19-7 overall and 13-7 in conference play, currently tied for fifth in the KCAC standings. The Moundbuilders will aim to replicate their success from the teams' previous meeting, when Southwestern secured a 74-71 victory.
Wyatt Bell led the way in that contest with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Isaac Hoberecht added 12 points and four rebounds, and Jayden Bridgeman provided a spark off the bench with 10 points.
Southwestern has shown resilience throughout the season, posting a 5-1 record following a loss.
Friends will look to defend its home court and avenge the earlier defeat as it seeks to maintain its hold near the top of the conference standings.
Wednesday's contest marks a pivotal late-season opportunity for both programs as the race for KCAC tournament seeding continues.
