WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern returns to Broadway Sports Complex on Saturday looking to halt a 10-game losing streak as the Moundbuilders host Sterling in a conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., with Game 2 scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Moundbuilders enter the matchup at 4-12 overall and 0-6 in conference play. Southwestern has struggled offensively through the early part of the season, hitting .233 as a team with 90 hits and 33 RBIs.
Taylor Mesna leads the offense with a .432 batting average and a team-high 19 hits. Jolie Boyd is hitting .353, while Tiara Henry adds a .273 average and a team-best seven RBIs.
In the circle, Faith Campbell has carried much of the workload, posting a 5.86 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 43 innings. Emma Willesden has made nine appearances and holds a 2-3 record. As a staff, Southwestern owns a 6.53 ERA.
Sterling enters the weekend at 9-17 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Warriors are hitting .288 as a team and have totaled 112 runs this season.
Cheyenne Cunningham leads Sterling with a .460 batting average, while Alessandra Ambriz (.379) and Mallory Seidel (.357) provide depth in the lineup. Sterling also carries a .403 team slugging percentage.

Saturday's doubleheader marks the first meeting between the two teams this season, with Southwestern looking to take advantage of its home field and secure its first conference wins.
