WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College dropped a 7-0 decision to Avila University in men's tennis play, with several competitive moments throughout singles action.
Avila secured the doubles point with wins at both positions contested. At No. 1 doubles, Lowe/Stampley fell 1-6 to Scott/Lozano. At No. 2, Arias/Rocchelli were defeated 1-6 by Carillo/Honn.
In singles play, the Builders continued to compete across the lineup. At No. 1, Arias fell 0-6, 1-6 to Scott. At No. 2, Lowe dropped a 2-6, 3-6 match to Lozano, while at No. 3, Stampley fell 0-6, 0-6 to Carillo.
The most competitive match of the day came at No. 4, where Rocchelli opened with a 7-5 first-set win before falling 1-6, 2-10 to Honn in a three-set battle.
At No. 5, Spears fell 1-6, 0-6 to Drinkwater.
Southwestern will look to bounce back in its next match on March 24 at 2 p.m. on the road against Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.
