WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College men's and women's tennis teams dropped a pair of matches to Texas A&M–Texarkana and Texas Wesleyan University in nonconference action.
The women fell to Texas A&M–Texarkana before also coming up short against Texas Wesleyan later in the competition.
In the women's match against Texas A&M–Texarkana, Rosennnscar Elie and Natalie Blaufuss fell 0–6 in the doubles match. Chloe Patterson and Kaitlyn Celmo also dropped a 0–6 decision in doubles play. In singles play, Patterson, Celmo, Elie, Blaufuss and J'ciana Strong each fell by 0–6 scores. Southwestern had the same doubles results against Texas Wesleyan as they did against Texas A&M–Texarkana.
On the men's side against Texas A&M–Texarkana, Drake Lowe and Jackson Davis fell 3–6 in doubles play. Connor Stampley and Victor Arias dropped a 1–6 decision in doubles, while Tyron Spears and Francesco Rocchelli fell 0–6.
In singles competition, Victor Arias fell 0–6, 0–6. Drake Lowe lost 3–6, 0–6, while Jackson Davis dropped a 1–6, 1–6 decision. Connor Stampley fell 0–6, 0–6. Francesco Rocchelli lost 0–6, 1–6, and Tyron Spears fell 0–6, 0–6.
Against Texas Wesleyan, Jackson Davis and Drake Lowe fell 0–6 in doubles play. Connor Stampley and Victor Arias also dropped a 0–6 decision, while Francesco Rocchelli and Tyron Spears fell 0–6. In singles competition, Victor Arias lost 2–6, 2–6. Drake Lowe fell 1–6, 0–6, while Jackson Davis dropped a 1–6, 1–6 decision. Connor Stampley lost 0–6, 1–6, Francesco Rocchelli fell 0–6, 1–6, and Tyron Spears dropped a 0–6, 0–6 match.
Southwestern returns to action Monday, March 9, hosting Oklahoma Wesleyan University at 9 a.m. at the T.H. Vaughan Tennis Complex in Winfield. The Moundbuilders will also face Evangel University (Mo.) later in the day at 1 p.m. at the same location.
