WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern will look to carry momentum into its upcoming road matchup against Oklahoma Wesleyan, with a doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday at 2 and 4 p.m. in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
The Builders (5-13, 1-7 KCAC) are coming off a split with Sterling last Saturday, including an 8-6 win in the finale to pick up a conference victory.
Southwestern has shown flashes offensively this season, led by Taylor Mesna, who is hitting a team-best .449. Jolie Boyd has also been a steady presence at the plate with a .375 average, while Tiara Henry provides additional production with a .255 mark and a team-high seven RBIs.
As a team, the Builders are hitting .239 and will look to generate more early offense after struggling in the opening innings this season.
In the circle, Southwestern has leaned on Faith Campbell and Emma Willesden. Campbell leads the team in strikeouts, while Willesden has logged a team-high workload in the circle.
Oklahoma Wesleyan (18-6, 3-1 KCAC) enters as one of the top teams in the conference, hitting .330 as a team while combining strong pitching and defense.
The Eagles are led offensively by Maria Fory, Brooklyn Purtell and Raegan Rector, all hitting above .400 this season, and backed by a pitching staff that has held opponents to a .232 batting average.
Southwestern will look to build off its recent performance and continue to find consistency as it faces one of the conference's top contenders Tuesday afternoon.
