WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern heads to Overland Park, Kansas, on Thursday for a doubleheader against Kansas Christian College, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Moundbuilders enter the matchup at 5-15 overall and are looking to regain momentum after a challenging stretch of conference play.
Taylor Mesna has led Southwestern offensively, batting .434 with 23 hits and seven RBIs. Jolie Boyd (.333) and Lainey Hardman (.263) have added depth to the lineup, while Tiara Henry has driven in seven runs. As a team, Southwestern is hitting .235 and will look for more consistent production at the plate.
In the circle, Faith Campbell has handled the bulk of the workload with 50 innings pitched and 43 strikeouts. Emma Willesden has added 44 innings and two wins.
Kansas Christian College, which sits at 3-5 overall, features a high-producing offense with several hitters above the .300 mark. The Moundbuilders will look to limit scoring opportunities early and keep pace offensively.
Thursday's games mark a nonconference opportunity for Southwestern to reset and build momentum heading into the remainder of the season.
