WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College track and field athletes Malia Pearson and JJ Crawford earned Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention recognition following their performances at the 2026 KCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Wichita, Kan.
Pearson, a sophomore from Southwestern College, received honorable mention honors in the discus after placing seventh at the conference meet with a personal-best throw of 37.13 meters (121 feet, 10 inches).
Pearson showed steady improvement throughout the outdoor season, recording multiple top-10 finishes in the discus before her career-best performance at the KCAC Championships. She also competed in the shot put and hammer throw for the Moundbuilders during the 2026 campaign.
Crawford, a freshman jumper for Southwestern, earned honorable mention recognition in both the long jump and triple jump after scoring points in each event at the conference championships. He placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.89 meters (22 feet, 7.25 inches) and finished seventh in the triple jump at 13.29 meters (43 feet, 7.25 inches).
Earlier in the season, Crawford posted a personal-best leap of 7.00 meters (22 feet, 11.75 inches) to win the long jump at the Zach Kindler Invitational. He also recorded a season-best triple jump mark of 13.43 meters (44 feet, 0.75 inches) during the KCAC Indoor Championships.
The All-KCAC honorable mention designation is awarded to student-athletes who earn points at the conference championship meet. Pearson and Crawford contributed to Southwestern's efforts at the KCAC Championships while continuing to develop the Moundbuilders' track and field program.
