Box Score BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Southwestern College men's soccer team hopped on the highway to Bartlesville, Okla. for a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) battle with the No. 20-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles at their home pitch. Unfortunately, the Builders dropped their eighth KCAC tilt by a 4-0 final, remaining winless on the conference campaign.
From the kickoff, it was a difficult night for the Builders as it only took the Eagles ten minutes to score their first goal. Matheus Ferreira tallied the first goal of the fixture, and was assisted by Kevin Petrmichl in the 10th minute.
A few minutes later, in the 15th minute, Pol Mur scored to second goal of the game to improve the OKWU lead to 2-0. A corner kick for the Eagles was deflected and blocked by goalkeeper Jose Macias before it found Mur's feet to bounce into the back of the net.
Just moments later, Zlatan Ramic scored the third goal for the Eagles in the 18th minute with an assist from Matheus Ferreira. The tally made it 3-0 in the opening half.
The Eagles would score their fourth goal of the match when Brennon Slinger fired his lone salvo of the match in the 37th minute to end the scoring for the bout.
The Builders were able to show more offensive strength in the second half of play but ultimately could not finish their chances. They did outshoot OKWU by a 14-9 margin in the back half of the matchup. They forced the Eagles to make seven of their eight saves in the latter stage of the battle.
As a team, Southwestern ended with 17 shots in total, with five coming from Hector Hernandez. Goalkeeper Jose Macias had a total of three saves in the match, with one shot hitting the post and another being saved by the defense in front of him.
The Builders (3-6-4, 0-4-4 KCAC) are now looking forward to a faceoff with the Ottawa University Braves on Wednesday, October 19 inside Richard L. Jantz Stadium at 8:30 p.m. It will mark the penultimate home match of the 2022 campaign for Builder men's soccer, as they head toward the conclusion of their season.
