Box Score WINFIELD, Kan. – On Tuesday night, the Southwestern College women's soccer squad played host to the Bacone College Warriors at Richard L. Jantz Stadium for the Builders' second home fixture of the 2022 campaign. It was the team's first triumphant outcome of the year, as they lit up the scoreboard with a 10-goal offensive performance. Ultimately, the squad earned a 10-0 victory over the Warriors.
Offense came early and often for Southwestern, as they scored eight times in the opening half. Tallies were put up in the 6th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 18th, 28th, 30th, and 35th minutes, as Hailey Rouse opened the scoring on a goal that was assisted by Bryanna Kuhn.
Then, Keiana Jones scored twice, as she was able to bury two shots just under one minute apart. The latter of the two goals was assisted on by Rouse.
Rouse also played a part in goals number four and five, as she was the passer on the fourth tally from Kenzie Saul, and then scored the fifth goal herself without an assist.
The reserves would get involved in the final three tallies of the first half, as Taylor Holcombe scored twice, having been assisted by Natalia Bak on the first of two salvos. Then, Bak scored one of her own on a dish from Natalie Belanger to make it 8-0 at the break.
Half number two was a slower paced period, as there was much less action on the part of either offense. The final two goals of the match were scored by Rouse, giving her goals number three and four of the battle. Ana Llanos found her way onto the score sheet, assisting on both of Rouse's second-half tallies in the 57th and 59th minutes. That made it a final score of 10-0 for SC over Bacone at the final whistle.
Southwestern had 25 shots in the battle, as 19 of them were on frame. Meanwhile, they held the visiting Warriors to just one shot the entire night, as it went wide of the goal frame. SC had three players with multiple goals scored in the bout, as Rouse (4), Jones (2), and Holcombe (2) were able to score more than once in the tilt.
Ashley Soderlund got the start in net for the Builders, as she earned the victory without facing a shot on goal, thanks in part to strong defensive play from the back line.
After the dominant triumph, SC will now face a difficult road trip, as they head down south to the Lone Star State for a pair of battles. The first of two tilts will be at 5 p.m. against Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday, September 3, while the second will be at 1 p.m. at NCAA Division III East Texas Baptist University on Monday, September 5 in Marshall, Texas.
