Men's Women's Golf Match Play Preview

WINFIELD, Kan. - The men's and women's golf teams travels to Mariah Hills in Dodge City, Kan. to participate in this year's KCAC Match Play Tournament on October 14th-15th.

There will be a new format for this year's tournament. Both the men's and women's teams will play 18 holes on Monday morning to determine the seeding. However, the brackets are split up with the one through four seeds playing in one bracket, the five through eight seeds playing in a separate bracket, and the nine through twelve seeds playing in their own bracket as well. The men's and women's teams are looking to improve on their 8th place and 7th place finish last year, respectively.
The men's and women's golf team has found success early on as both programs won their first tournament of the fall season in the Jinx Invitational.

At their latest tournament, the men's team had a top 3 finish where they finished 3rd at the Evangel Fall Invitational. The women's team finished 4th. The men's team were led by freshman Cameron Surles, sophomore Jordan Clancy, and senior Aaron Delgado, who all finished in the top 10 with a 4th place, 7th place, and T9th place finish, individually.

The women's team had two top 15 place finishers with senior Ashlee Johnson finishing T-10th and junior Lauren Kelly finishing 13th place.

The men's team only have two players with match play experience, senior Aaron Delgado and sophomore, Emmett Murphy. While leaning on their experience, they have very talented golfers to round out the team.

Freshman Cameron Surles already has two top 5 finishes in his collegiate career with a win at the Jinx Invitational and a 4th place finish at the Evangel Fall Invitational and sophomore Jordan Clancy has finished top 10 or better at each tournament this fall. Freshmen Hunter Austin and Christian Campbell round out the remaining two spots.

The women's team brings back three of their top five players from last year in senior Ashlee Johnson and juniors Lauren Kelly and Jodi Keener. Senior Kylee Woffinden and freshman Mollie Todd will be filling in the other two spots in the top five. Freshman Kelly Langford will be traveling, as an alternate.
