JOPLIN, Mo. — The Southwestern College men's and women's golf teams wrapped up play at the Evangel Fall Invitational this week, competing against a strong field on October 6-7 at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club. The Moundbuilder men finished in sixth place after three rounds, while the women were represented by two individual competitors who turned in strong performances.
The men's team posted consistent rounds of 309, 313 and 311 for a three-round team total of 933. Leading the way was sophomore Cameron Surles, who put together rounds of 74, 76 and 72 for a total score of 222. Surles' steady play earned him an eighth-place individual finish in a competitive field.
Jordan Clancy followed with rounds of 78, 75 and 78 to finish at 231, while Christian Campbell shot 79, 81 and 78 for a total of 238. Mitchell Lehman recorded rounds of 78, 82 and 84 to post a 244, and Drew Demeyer rounded out the lineup with scores of 86, 81 and 83 for a total of 250.
On the women's side, Southwestern was represented by Lauren Kelly and Jodi Keener, both competing as individuals. Kelly fired rounds of 81 and 85 for a two-round total of 166, earning a third-place individual finish. Keener carded scores of 89 and 94 for a 183 total.
The Moundbuilders will return to action October 13-14 at the Falcon Cup Classic, hosted by Friends University. The tournament will be held at Auburn Hills Golf Course in Wichita, Kansas.
