WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College volleyball will wrap up its regular season on the road Saturday, visiting York University for a 1 p.m. match in Nebraska. The Lady Builders look to finish their Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a strong performance and positive momentum heading into the postseason.
The Lady Builders (9-18, 2-10 KCAC) have battled through a demanding conference slate and shown flashes of balanced, determined play. Southwestern's offense has been led by a trio of key hitters who continue to fuel the attack.
Outside hitters Mikki Johnson and Ashlyn Tag have carried much of the offensive load throughout the season. Johnson leads the team with 229 kills, averaging 2.69 per set, while Tag has tallied nearly 200 kills and adds consistency from the service line with 30 aces. On the right side, Autumn Bennett has been a reliable scoring option with 223 kills and a .218 hitting percentage, bringing power and experience to the front row.
Setter Natalie Blaufuss anchors the offense with 439 assists, averaging nearly five per set. She has developed strong connections across the court, particularly with middle blocker Macey Collier, who leads the team with a .320 hitting percentage and 43 blocks. Haleigh Weber has also been a key contributor in the middle, adding 51 total blocks to bolster Southwestern's net defense.
Defensively, libero Avery Riedel has paced the back row with 346 digs, while Reece Likes and Kalissa Ortega have provided stability in serve receive and coverage. The Lady Builders are averaging 10.7 kills per set and have totaled 183 service aces this season, backed by steady defensive play with more than 1,300 digs.
York University (12-21, 2-10 KCAC) enters the matchup looking to snap a late-season slide. The Panthers are led by outside hitter Brianna Lemke and setter Kensey Clifton, who have been key contributors offensively.
Saturday's contest marks the regular-season finale for both teams, with first serve set for 1 p.m. in York, Nebraska.
