Game Preview: Tough Test Against Kansas Wesleyan in KCAC Matchup

WINFIELD, Kan. – The Southwestern College Lady Builders (3-18, 3-16) will look to break a three-game losing streak when they host the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes (19-5, 15-3) in a conference battle. Southwestern has struggled this season but will aim to defend their home court against one of the KCAC's top teams.

Southwestern College Lady Builders (3-18, 3-16)
The Lady Builders have faced a challenging season, but they have shown flashes of potential. Leading the charge is Christy Wiebe, who is averaging 14.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, making her the team's go-to player in the paint. Macey Pond has also been a key contributor, scoring 11.2 points per game while shooting 36.3% from three-point range, providing a much-needed perimeter threat.

Southwestern has struggled offensively, averaging 62.5 points per game on 32.6% shooting, but their three-point shooting (7.0 made per game) has been one of their strengths. However, their biggest challenge remains rebounding, where they are being out rebounded by opponents 48.6 to 38.3 per game. Improving their presence on the glass will be crucial in keeping pace with Kansas Wesleyan.

Defensively, the Lady Builders have been active in passing lanes, averaging 7.8 steals per game, with Jerranay Echols and Haven Matthews playing key roles in creating turnovers. They will need a strong defensive effort to slow down a Kansas Wesleyan offense that has been dominant all season.

Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes (19-5, 15-3)
Kansas Wesleyan enters this game as one of the premier teams in the conference, boasting a high-powered offense and a strong defensive presence. The Coyotes are led by LaMyah Ricks, who averages 12.2 points per game, and Angel Lee, who adds 11.7 points per game. Their ability to stretch the floor and create open shots has been a key factor in Kansas Wesleyan's success this season.

Offensively, the Coyotes have been one of the most efficient teams in the KCAC, averaging 75.7 points per game while shooting 40.5% from the field. Their balanced attack and unselfish play averaging 15.5 assists per game make them a difficult team to defend.
On the defensive end, Kansas Wesleyan has held opponents to just 62.5 points per game, using their length and athleticism to create turnovers and control the rebounding battle. They have a significant rebounding edge over Southwestern, which could be a major factor in dictating the pace of the game.

Southwestern faces an uphill battle against one of the KCAC's top teams, but the Lady Builders have the potential to pull off an upset if they can execute their game plan. To stay competitive, they will need to maximize their three-point shooting, limit turnovers, and find ways to battle on the boards. Kansas Wesleyan, on the other hand, will look to establish their tempo early, dominate inside, and use their depth to wear down Southwestern.
