WINFIELD, Kan.— Southwestern College senior guard Macey Pond capped her career with a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference honorable mention selection after turning in one of the conference's most consistent all-around performances this season.
A South Haven native, Pond started all 28 games for the Moundbuilders and averaged 15.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. She ranked seventh in the KCAC in scoring and third in rebounding, establishing herself as one of the league's top two-way threats.
Pond recorded 13 double-doubles during her senior campaign, reaching the milestone against 11 of the Moundbuilders' 13 conference opponents, consistently producing against the KCAC's top competition.
She finished the season with 441 points while shooting 36.7% from the field (154 of 420), 25.5% from 3-point range (48 of 188) and 75.2% from the free-throw line (85 of 113). Pond totaled 259 rebounds, including 66 offensive boards, and added 96 assists, 66 steals and 40 blocked shots across 1,000 minutes of action.
Her senior year also marked a career milestone as Pond surpassed the 1,000-point mark. She concluded her four-year career with 1,113 points, scoring 220 as a freshman, 186 as a sophomore, 266 as a junior and 441 as a senior.
Pond's name now appears numerous times in the Southwestern College women's basketball record book following her senior season. While she does not hold the top spot in any single category, her placement across multiple records reflects her steady production and durability throughout her career.
The KCAC women's basketball all-conference teams are selected by the league's head coaches and include first team, second team, third team, honorable mention, defensive team and freshman team honorees.
Pond's honorable mention recognition punctuates a senior season defined by consistency, resilience and impact, closing a career that leaves a lasting mark on the Southwestern College women's basketball program.
