WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College will look to snap a seven-game skid when it hosts Randall University The Moundbuilders (3-15, 1-12) are coming off a tough series against Kansas Wesleyan, where they were outscored 57-15 in three games. Meanwhile, Randall (1-17, 1-7) is also searching for consistency after dropping four straight.
Offensively, Southwestern has seen steady production from junior infielders JJ Cardinal (.365, 4 HR, 13 RBI) and Andrew Brautman (.353, 3 HR, 13 RBI), who lead the team in batting average and extra-base hits. However, the Moundbuilders have struggled on the mound, posting a 12.38 team ERA, with opponents hitting .340 against them.
Randall has battled similar pitching woes, carrying an 11.44 ERA, but has found some offensive bright spots in Kaden Young (.438 AVG) and Brayden McMurtrey (.375 AVG, .531 OBP). The Saints' lone win of the season came in conference play, giving them confidence heading into the matchup.
Both teams will be eager to reverse their fortunes in a contest that could serve as a turning point. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Broadway Sports Complex.
