WINFIELD, Kan. — The 2026 season for the Southwestern College baseball team showcased growth, resilience, and a lineup capable of producing at a high level, as the Moundbuilders continued to build toward the future against a competitive slate.
Southwestern's offense proved to be a bright spot throughout the year, combining for nearly 300 runs and more than 400 hits. The Builders consistently applied pressure at the plate, with several key contributors turning in standout performances.
Raisean Dorsey led the charge with an impressive .399 batting average, adding eight home runs and 47 RBIs to anchor the middle of the lineup. Sam Benz followed with a strong all-around season, hitting .348 with 62 hits, including 20 doubles, while also showcasing speed on the bases with 28 stolen bases.
The supporting cast added depth and balance offensively. Koda Larsen scored 41 runs and collected 47 hits, while Brice Nittler hit .313 and drove in 26 runs. Ayden Markovich and Preston Carrillo each contributed in key moments, helping the Builders generate consistent production throughout the lineup.
On the mound, Southwestern saw encouraging development from its pitching staff. Jaden Hensley emerged as a dependable starter, leading the team with five wins and logging significant innings. Jaxon Burns provided a steady presence out of the bullpen, earning two wins and two saves while striking out 30 batters.
The Builders also demonstrated their ability to compete in tight contests, finding success in close games and putting together strong stretches, including a three-game winning streak during conference play. Those moments highlighted the team's determination and ability to execute under pressure.
A cornerstone of the season was the leadership of the senior class, whose experience and commitment helped guide the team through the ups and downs of the year.
