Southwestern College Names Kathleen Percegona as Head Tennis Coach

WINFIELD, Kan. - Southwestern College is thrilled to announce the hiring of Kathleen Percegona as the new Head Coach of Men's and Women's Tennis. Percegona brings a wealth of experience in collegiate tennis, coaching, and player development, making her an outstanding addition to the Moundbuilder family.

A former Division I athlete and captain of the UTEP Tennis Team, Percegona excelled both on and off the court. She earned MVP Strength & Conditioning honors in 2022 and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Finance with an impressive 3.79 GPA. Currently pursuing an MBA at St. Bonaventure University, she has been serving as an Graduate Assistant Coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs, gaining valuable experience at the collegiate level.

Percegona's coaching background extends internationally, including time as a tennis coach at Clube Thalia in Brazil, where she developed players, introduced newcomers to the sport, and traveled with athletes to tournaments. Her passion for player development, recruiting, and program growth will be instrumental in elevating the Southwestern College tennis program.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Percegona to Southwestern College," said Matt O'Brien, Athletic Director. "Her leadership, coaching experience, and dedication to developing student-athletes make her a fantastic fit for our program. We look forward to seeing her impact both on and off the court."

Coach Percegona has already earned high praise from her peers. Randy Rowley SC '84, Head Men's Tennis Coach at Army West Point, shared his thoughts on her coaching ability:

"Kathleen is a young, energetic coach who possesses a special talent allowing her to work with both a men's and a women's team with great fairness and respect for each member of the team. I have had the opportunity to coach against her for the last two seasons, and her teams are always well-prepared and excited about the match. I am extremely excited to follow her journey leading the players at SC and involving Builder Nation!"

Percegona's expertise and passion for the sport position her perfectly to lead the Moundbuilders into a new era of success.
