Southwestern College Places Fifth at KCAC Men's Golf Championship; Freshman Surles Named KCAC Freshman of the Year
WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College Moundbuilders delivered a strong finish to their season, earning fifth place at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Men's Golf Championship, held April 28–30 at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City.
Freshman Cameron Surles, from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, led the Builders with an impressive +4 finish over the three-day tournament. Surles' consistent play throughout the season culminated in his recognition as the KCAC Freshman of the Year, a testament to his immediate impact in collegiate competition.
Sophomore Jordan Clancy followed with a +14, while freshmen Mitchell Lehman and Christian Campbell posted scores of +24 and +33, respectively. With a roster featuring four freshmen and two sophomores, Southwestern showcased promising young talent and competitive depth.
"This was a solid showing for such a young group," said Head Coach Marcus Willey. "We're proud of how they've grown throughout the year."
With a core of underclassmen gaining valuable championship experience, the future looks bright for the Moundbuilder golf program.
