WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College baseball team concluded its 2025 season with a13-30, 9-27 record. The season featured flashes of potential, highlighted by key individual performances and hard-fought wins both at home and on the road.
Senior shortstop Andrew Brautman led the offensive charge, batting .365 with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases in 43 games. His consistency at the plate made him a standout performer all season.
Junior outfielder J.J. Cardinal added power and depth to the lineup, hitting .307 with 8 home runs and 27 RBIs. Junior Raisean Dorsey chipped in with a .283 average, five home runs, and 25 RBIs, while Luca Dincola and Marco Ayala brought speed and versatility on the bases.
On the mound, Micah Cleveland logged the most innings with 62.0 pitched, collecting two wins and 33 strikeouts. Freshman Jayden Hensley provided stability in the rotation with a 5.57 ERA across 42 innings and was honored as the KCAC Freshman of Year for his performance during the season, while Jason Kramlich led the team in wins with a 4-3 record and 40 strikeouts in 40 innings.
Despite challenges throughout the spring, Southwestern earned notable wins over Randall, Saint Mary, Evangel, and McPherson. The team's lone shutout came in a 4-0 win at #20 Oklahoma Wesleyan on March 1. They also notched a historic milestone with their first-ever win over Tabor College, marking a significant achievement in program history.
Southwestern's offense posted a .248 team batting average over 43 games, scoring 204 total runs on 314 hits. The team also recorded 179 walks, the most in a single season in program history, along with the third-most home runs (34), third-most hit-by-pitches (59), and the sixth-most hits (314). On the mound, the pitching staff recorded an 8.57 ERA with five saves across 332 innings, and individually, three pitchers posted WHIP numbers that rank among the lowest in program history.
The Builders opened the season in February against Central Christian and closed out regular-season play in late April against Bethany. The team now looks ahead to the offseason with a young core returning and the goal of building on this year's experience.
