WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College volleyball team returns to conference action with a noon road matchup at Sterling College. The Moundbuilders (6-9, 0-1 KCAC) look to carry momentum from their non-conference stretch into the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) slate.
Southwestern has been strong at home (4-0) but will seek its first KCAC road victory of the season. Freshman outside hitter Mikki Johnson leads in attack with 123 kills, averaging 2.80 per set, while senior hitter Autumn Bennett adds 2.50 kills per set on a .238 hitting percentage. Junior setter Natalie Blaufuss has dished out 215 assists (4.67 per set), senior libero Avery Riedel anchors the defense with 174 digs.
The Moundbuilders have also been effective at the service line, recording 97 aces this season. And senior Reece Likes leads the team with 19, while freshman Ashlyn Tag has contributed 16.
Sterling (9-5, 0-2 KCAC) enters the contest with one of the league's top defensive units, holding opponents to just .080 hitting. The Warriors are led by junior middle hitter Aliya McClanahan (2.63 kills per set, .370 hitting percentage) and setter Keala Wilson (169 digs, 3.76 per set).
Saturday's matchup will be in Sterling and Southwestern will be making their second KCAC road trip of the year. First serve is scheduled for noon at Gleason Center in Sterling, Kansas.
