WINFIELD, Kan. — Moundbuilders will look to pick up their first win of the season when they host the University of Science and Arts (Okla.) Drovers on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m. at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.
The match will be the third nonconference contest for Southwestern (0-2-0), while the Drovers (2-2-2) enter their eighth game of the year.
Southwestern has been competitive through its first two outings, dropping a 3-1 decision to Oklahoma Panhandle State before falling 2-1 to Southwestern Christian. The Builders have tallied two goals on 12 total shots this season, led by junior right wing Millie Hazzard, who netted one goal on four attempts. Senior Natalie Belanger has also found the back of the net once. In goal, Hayden Clark has been busy, collecting 14 saves across 180 minutes of play.
Science and Arts brings more experience into Wednesday's contest, having scored nine goals in six matches. Dutch forward Ilse de Jong leads the Drovers' attack with four goals on 24 shots, while Ashlee Davison and Daniela Salinas have chipped in one goal apiece. Senior goalkeeper Ashlyn Lonberg has anchored the defense, recording 19 saves with a 1.17 goals-against average and one shutout.
The Builders will look to capitalize on home-field advantage, aiming to turn strong defensive stretches into scoring opportunities. Southwestern has shown the ability to create pressure, earning seven corner kicks to match its opponents through two matches.
