WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College will look to regroup quickly Friday as the Moundbuilders host Avila University in a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader.

First pitch for Game 1 is set for 11 a.m., with Game 2 to follow at Broadway Sports Complex.

Southwestern (2-5, 0-1 KCAC) is coming off a 12-1 loss to Avila on Thursday in its conference opener. The Eagles (4-1, 1-0 KCAC) used timely hitting and steady pitching to pull away after the early innings.

Raisean Dorsey provided the lone highlight for the Moundbuilders, launching a solo home run in the sixth inning. Dorsey continues to pace Southwestern's offense and has been a consistent presence at the plate through the team's first seven games.

Despite the lopsided final score Thursday, Southwestern will aim to reset heading into Friday's twin bill. The Moundbuilders are seeking more consistency on the mound after surrendering 12 runs in the series opener. Limiting free passes and getting ahead in counts will be key against an Avila lineup that capitalized on scoring opportunities in the first meeting.

Offensively, Southwestern will look to generate early momentum. The Moundbuilders have shown flashes of power but are searching for sustained production throughout the lineup.

Friday's doubleheader presents an opportunity for Southwestern to earn its first KCAC victory of the season and bounce back after a tough opening day against the Eagles.
