WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern will host Hesston College on Tuesday at the Broadway Sports Complex as both teams look to build early-season momentum in a non-conference baseball matchup.

Southwestern enters the game with a 2-4 overall record and has played all six of its games against nonconference opponents. The Builders have shown balance at the plate, batting .311 as a team through six games while scoring 32 runs.

Gabe Rodriguez has led Southwestern offensively, hitting .583 with seven hits in 12 at-bats and three stolen bases. Nathan Perez has added a .556 average and five runs scored, while Sam Benz is hitting .500 with four doubles and five RBIs. Raisean Dorsey and Cole Van Stone have provided power, combining for four home runs and nine RBIs.

On the mound, Southwestern carries a team ERA of 7.38. Jaden Hensley has recorded a 1.50 ERA over six innings, while Brock Cross, Colton Jones, and Wyatt Tappen have yet to allow an earned run this season.

Hesston comes into the contest with a 1-3 record and is seeking its first road win of the season. The Larks are batting .275 as a team and have scored 16 runs in four games.

Federico Moran has been the catalyst for Hesston's offense, hitting .538 with three doubles and four RBIs. RJ Cruz is batting .500, while Manuel Aranguren and Trentis Lane have also contributed multi-hit games early in the season.

Hesston's pitching staff owns a 6.92 team ERA. Aaron Shipp has earned the Larks' lone win and has not allowed an earned run in four innings of work, while several pitchers have seen early action as the team continues to settle into its rotation.
