BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Southwestern College will look to build momentum in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play when it travels to face Oklahoma Wesleyan at 1 p.m. in a conference matchup at the Oklahoma Wesleyan Sports Complex on Tuesday, March 3rd.
The Moundbuilders enter the contest 5-13 overall and 2-7 in KCAC play, coming off a competitive three-game series against Ottawa in which they went 1-2. Southwestern salvaged the middle game of the set with an 11-inning victory, showing resilience after dropping the opener.
Offensively, the Moundbuilders have been paced by Raisean Dorsey, who is hitting .431 with 28 hits, six doubles and three home runs. Sam Benz has added 21 hits and six doubles while batting .318. Koda Larsen and Brice Nittler have contributed 16 and 13 hits, respectively, as Southwestern continues to search for consistency at the plate.
Oklahoma Wesleyan enters at 13-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play. The Eagles are coming off a 1-2 series against Tabor College and will look to rebound on their home field.
JT Maloney and Daurys Manzanillo have led the way offensively for Oklahoma Wesleyan with 28 and 26 hits, respectively, helping anchor an Eagles lineup that has remained near the top of the KCAC standings through the early portion of the season.
Southwestern has struggled historically in the matchup, going 1-9 in its last 10 contests against the Eagles. However, the Moundbuilders claimed the most recent meeting between the programs last season.
Tuesday's contest presents an opportunity for Southwestern to secure a key road win and gain momentum heading into its upcoming weekend series against Evangel.
