NEWTON, Kan. — The Southwestern College men's and women's golf teams return to action Monday and Tuesday as they compete in the Bethany College Classic at Sand Creek Station Golf Course.
The event marks an important late-season opportunity for the Moundbuilders as they continue preparations for conference championship play.
On the men's side, Southwestern will send a lineup of Mitchell Lehman, Nico Nueteboom, Jackson Payne, Sydney Schrant and Wyatt Geissler. The group enters the tournament focused on building consistency and momentum heading into the KCAC Men's Stroke Play Championship later this spring.
With the squad split this week, the Bethany College Classic provides valuable competitive reps for a lineup that will look to solidify its form. Another group of Moundbuilders is set to compete simultaneously at the Midwest National Spring Invite in Manhattan, Kansas, giving Southwestern a chance to evaluate depth across its roster.
The women's team will be represented by Lauren Kelly and Jodi Keener, who will compete as individuals. For both golfers, the tournament carries added significance beyond the competition itself.
Sand Creek Station will also serve as the site of the KCAC Women's Stroke Play Championship, making this week's event a key preparatory opportunity. Kelly and Keener will have the chance to gain firsthand experience with the course's layout, greens and playing conditions, helping them develop course management strategies ahead of the conference championship.
As the postseason approaches, the Bethany College Classic provides Southwestern with a final stretch to refine its approach, build confidence and prepare for the challenges of KCAC competition.
